Caesar’s Camp, located in Laudun-l’Ardoise, is an ancient oppidum that was occupied from the Iron Age onwards, before becoming a veritable small Gallo-Roman city. Perched on a plateau overlooking the Rhône valley, it housed a forum, residential quarters, workshops and places of worship. Occupation continued into Late Antiquity, before the site was gradually abandoned in the High Middle Ages, although it retained a presence with the construction of a medieval chapel. Rediscovered and studied by archaeologists, it is now a major heritage site, offering remarkable remains and an exceptional panorama of the region.
