90 years since the discovery: in July and August, explore the Aven d’Orgnac from every angle! Special tours, concert in the cave, festive day

To mark the 90th anniversary of the discovery of Aven d’Orgnac, we’ve put together a special programme for July and August! There will be special tours, a concert in the cave and a day of festivities on 19 August, the day of the discovery. The choice is yours!

SPECIAL VISITS IN JULY AND AUGUST at the end of the day
Every evening in summer from 1 July to 31 August, explore the cave and the Cité from a different angle! Visits in small groups and, above all, unusual tours! The slow tour, the upside-down tour, the wine tour, the historical tour and the guided tour of the Cité! There’s something for everyone every week from 1 July to 31 August 2025.

Spend more time in the cave (2 hours) and satisfy your curiosity.

>>>> Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6.30pm – THE OENOLOGY TOUR
50 metres underground, discover the finest vintages of Ardèche winegrowers aged in one of the most spectacular cellars in the Ardèche: the Aven d’Orgnac wine library.

Treasures of the past, a guided tour of the museum just for you from 7pm!

Leaving from the natural entrance, this tour celebrates the 90th anniversary of the discovery by Robert de Joly.

>>>> Saturdays at 6.30pm – VISIT THE OUTSIDE
Take the lift down and walk up the 700 steps. Another view of the Grotto! Beware, this is an undeniably challenging walk, so bring water.

CONCERT DEAMBULATION DANS LA GROTTE – 21 JULY AT 8.30pm
Debussy’s Duo, an immersive musical experience, in partnership with the Festival Cordes en Ballade and the Quatuor Debussy. The quartet’s two violins take you on a musical underground journey for a rare gourmet concert (with wine tasting and local produce)!

ANNIVERSARY DAY: TUESDAY 19 AUGUST 2025
The entire Aven d’Orgnac team welcomes visitors in a 1930s atmosphere.
On the programme:
– exhibitions on the 90 years of the Aven d’Orgnac,
– on-site activities and games,
– the caravan ‘au petit creux de l’oreille’ to hear the memory of the site,
– films and videos made over the years,
– and a visit to the cave with a ‘photo at the foot of the pine cone’, just like in the old days…
