Cycling loop from Goudargues to Verfeuil

Presentation

Take the RD23 towards Verfeuil / la Bastide and leave Goudargues. After a few kilometers, you’ll come to the hamlet of La Bastide, where a short stop is recommended to admire its ancient castle and roadside wash-house on the left. Then head back towards Verfeuil, still on the RD23. After several kilometers, you’ll come to a crossroads at Claperet, where you need to turn right onto the RD143 towards Lussan/Verfeuil. In summer, you can admire the lavender fields that enhance the landscape. After several kilometers, you can admire the small hamlet of Goussargues on your right, where you can discover its charming little chapel, after crossing the small bridge over the Aiguillon stream on the way up to the village. You then return to the RD143 in the direction of Verfeuil. After a few kilometers, you’ll reach the village on a slight climb, where in summer you’ll discover the beauty of the lavender fields. Continue straight on to the center. A votre arrivée, prenez le temps de découvrir le patrimoine regroupé autour de son château du 12ème siècle et de son donjon surmonté d’un clocher, de son église du 19ème siècle (ancienne Abbaye de Valsauve et de sa capitelle. Return by the same route as the outward journey, via the minor RD143, then the RD23 in the direction of Goudargues. You can reach the village of La Roque-sur-Cèze from the junction of the RD143 and RD23 at Claperet.
