The hermitage of Mayran in Saint-Victor-La-Coste
Presentation
The site is nestled in the heart of a typically Provençal natural setting of vineyards and garrigues, giving it a peaceful, relaxing atmosphere.
The Mayran hermitage, located near the village of Saint-Victor-la-Coste, stands on ancient Roman remains incorporated into the chapel. The 11th-century Romanesque building is distinguished by its sobriety and its bell tower combining different geometric shapes. Inhabited by hermits until the 20th century, this place of meditation bears the memory of a long spiritual tradition.
How to get there:
From Saint-Victor-la-Coste, take the Chemin de Mayran out of the village towards St Laurent des Arbres. You can reach the site by car, with a small car park nearby, but walkers can also get there on foot by following the path winding through the garrigue for 800m.
