Musée Médiéval de Vagnas “The time of Vagnas

Inaugurated in February 2020, the medieval museum “Le temps de Vagnas” presents the collection of exceptional medieval liturgical furniture from excavations carried out for 17 years in the Saint-Pierre priory, at a place called Le Monastier.

In the outdoor patio, panels present the remarkable points of the village and the territory of Vagnas, Prehistory, the Battle of Vagnas, the family of Lacroix de Vagnas de Castries, the silk epic and the Vagnas mine. A garden of simples, medicinal plants cultivated in the Middle Ages by the monks is grown in tubs. Protected by a shelter, a “jardinière”, an emblematic vehicle of the region at the beginning of the last century. The medieval furniture is for its part exhibited inside the building. The entire lapidary collection exhibited is registered as a Historic Monument.

From 01/06 to 30/09/2026 from Monday to Friday between 10 am and 12.30 pm and between 2.30 pm and 6 pm. Closed weekends.
