Proudly dominating the Rhône Valley from the top of its 137-metre cliff, the Fortress of Mornas is an exceptional medieval site. A veritable military stronghold, occupied since antiquity, it invites you on a journey through the centuries, from its origins to its abandonment after the Wars of Religion.

Cross the XIIᵉ century walls and plunge into the heart of the Middle Ages. Discover its emblematic buildings: the keep, the barbican, the ramparts and the granary, a veritable fortress safe where salt, Mornas’ strategic treasure, was kept. Enjoy spectacular panoramic views of the Rhone Valley throughout your visit.

Explore the fortress at your own pace with the help of documentation handed out at the entrance. Explanatory panels line the route, revealing the secrets of the site.

🚶‍♂️ Access on foot via montée de la Combe then montée André Caillet
⏱ Climbing time: 15 min.
Benches and tables are available along the path.
