Presentation

A capital where life is good
Nestled in a meander of the Cèze, the capital of Provence Occitane: Bagnols-sur-Cèze. This city of character will only reveal itself to those who take the time to discover it!

The heart of Bagnols-sur-Cèze, an ancient medieval town, has been home to a renowned market for almost 800 years (1223), brightening up its squares and alleyways every Wednesday morning. Stroll along the town’s classical facades, beautiful doors and sumptuous townhouses, one of the most emblematic of which is the Hôtel de Ville.

On the second floor of the town hall is the Albert-André museum, named after the painter and curator of this first provincial museum of modern and contemporary art. And there’s more to come! Among the painters on display are such well-known names as Bonnard, Marquet, Matisse, Renoir and Van Dongen…

In the 1950s, Bagnols-sur-Cèze grew considerably around its historic center, with the help of town planners and architects such as Georges Candilis.
A visible and well thought-out expansion that blended into the surrounding natural and agricultural landscape.
Today, nature surrounds the city! Parc Rimbaud, bordered by the Cèze river, is a permanent invitation to stroll. And if you’d like to take a stroll on your own, with a partner or the whole family, on foot or by mountain bike, there are plenty of signposted hiking trails to choose from.

Welcome to Bagnols-sur-Cèze!
